Well said resident. Turnover is something that is greatly needed. And yes years ago the voters put in Holland, Mcklin, and Smith. How did that work out? They were the ones that brought in a new Town Manager, gave her a raise in hopes that she wouldn't be fired because the salary was too high. So the new board fired her and the salary for the position was increased. A dumb move.
Then there was the School Board giving Hank a 20K raise because if he didnt' get it, he would retire. Well eventually he retired, the salary for that position increased. See a pattern?
If we continue on this pattern, we are all doomed.
The sad part is that only 24% of registered voters show up and vote. Yes, there has been some change of Selectmen, but nothing changes. Not at the local lever, state level, or federal level. Your elected officaisl don't run government. It is the agencies, associations, ands commisions that government has set up over the last 50 years that you have never heard of. The most recent example is the California Town Manager that was earning $ 800,00 a year. His pension, if he lives to 85, will be 19 Milliion Dollars, according to the news report I saw last night. This town set up their own charter and some employees were given authority to name their own salaries, brilliant.
